(d) Apply grease, D00633 to the inside and outside surfaces of the carriage bushing [14] and
carriage bushing [20].

(e) Lift the outboard flap until the carriage [1] aligns with the gimbal [13].
(f) Install the carriage bushing [14] and carriage bushing [20] to attach the gimbal [13] to the
carriage [1].
(g) Install the bolts [17], washers [16] and nuts [15] to hold the carriage bushing [14] and
carriage bushing [20] in the carriage [1].
(h) Tighten the nuts [15] to 65-75 pound-inches (7.4-8.4 newton-meters) more than the run-on
torque.

(4) Connect the aft flap drive rod [6] to the drive rod attach fitting [37]:
(a) Put the drive rod [6] in its position in the drive rod attach fitting [37].
(b) Apply a layer of grease, D00633 to the inside of the bushing [33] and the shank of the bolt
[31].
(c) Install the bushing [33], bolt [31] and washer [32] to attach the drive rod [6] to the attach
fitting [37].
(d) Carefully clean the grease, D00633 from the threads of the bolt [31].
(e) Install the washer [34] and nut [35] on the bolt [31].
(f) Tighten the nut [35] to 65-100 pound-inches (7.4-11.2 newton-meters).
(g) Install the pin [36] in the nut [35].

(5) Connect the torque tube [9] to the transmission assembly [4]:
(a) Apply grease, D00633 to the coupling sleeve [8].
(b) Put the splined coupling [10] in the coupling sleeve [8].
(c) Install the screws [11] to attach the torque tube [9] to the transmission assembly [4].
(d) Install lockwire on the screws [11].

(6) Do this task: Flap Position Transmitter Installation, TASK 27-58-01-400-801.

(7) Apply grease, D00633 to the end of the plunger on the torque trip indicator [12] and push it down
around the sides of the plunger.

(8) Make sure the torque trip indicator [12] on the transmission assembly [4] is set.

(9) Lubricate the transmission assembly [4], ballscrew assembly [2] and gimbal [13]. To lubricate
them, do this task: Outboard Flap Outboard Ballscrew and Gimbal Lubrication,
TASK 12-22-51-640-805.

(1) Do this task: Trailing Edge Flap System Reactivation, TASK 27-51-00-440-801.

WARNING: KEEP PERSONS AND EQUIPMENT CLEAR OF THE FLIGHT CONTROL SURFACES, THE
THRUST REVERSERS, AND THE LANDING GEAR. THESE COMPONENTS CAN MOVE
SUDDENLY WHEN YOU SUPPLY HYDRAULIC POWER. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURIES TO
PERSONS AND DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
(2) Supply system B hydraulic power, do this task: Hydraulic System A or B Pressurization,
TASK 29-11-00-860-801.

(3) Use the primary system to retract the flaps to the retracted position. To retract the flaps, do this
