SUBTASK 27-51-28-420-001
(1) If it is not installed, install the fairing attach fitting assembly [13] on the transmission attach fitting
[10]:
(a) Apply primer, C00259 to the mating surfaces of the shim [24].
(b) Put the fairing attach fitting assembly [13] and shim [24] in their location on the
transmission attach fitting [10].
(c) Apply compound, C00528 to the holes for the bolts [8].
(d) Install the bolts [8] and washers [9] to attach the fairing attach fitting assembly [13] to the
transmission attach fitting [10].
(e) Install lockwire between the bolts [8] and the fairing attach fitting assembly [13].

(2) Install the forward fairing assembly [1]:

(a) Connect the jumper wires [22]:
1) Lift the forward fairing assembly [1] until you can put the jumper wires [22] on the studs.
2) Install the washers [12] and nuts [11] to attach the jumper wires [22].
3) Apply sealant, A02315 to the nuts [11].
(b) Apply primer, C00259 to the mating surfaces of the shims [21] and shim [23].
(c) If you removed the shims [21] or shim [23], put the shims [21] or shim [23] in its position.
(d) Apply compound, C00528 to the holes for the bolts [4] and bolts [6].
(e) Install the bolts [4] and washers [5] to attach the forward fairing assembly [1] to the fairing
attach fitting assembly [13].
(f) Install the bolts [6] to attach the forward end of the forward fairing assembly [1].

(3) Do this task: Outboard Flap Outboard Support Fairing Adjustment, TASK 27-51-28-820-801.
NOTE: The aft fairing assembly [2] must be installed and adjusted before you can do the
adjustment of the forward fairing assembly [1].

(4) Fill the clearance between the front of the forward fairing assembly [1] and the lower surface of
the wing with sealant, A02315.
G. Put the Airplane Back to Its Usual Condition

(1) Extend the trailing edge flaps to the 40-unit position. To extend them, do this task: Extend the
Trailing Edge Flaps, TASK 27-51-00-860-803.
NOTE: If you cannot extend the flaps, it will be necessary to open the access door [34] on the
aft fairing assembly [2].

(2) If it is necessary, open the access door [34] on the aft fairing assembly [2]:
(a) These are the doors:

(b) Remove the bolts [65] that attach the access door [34] to the aft fairing assembly [2].
(c) Loosen the screw [66] on the access door [34].
NOTE: The screw [66] has a cotter pin installed on the inboard side.
(d) Turn the access door [34] around the screw [66].
