A. Safety Precautions
(1) Make sure that the safety barriers are in position.
(2) Make sure the safety devices are correctly installed on the landing gear (Ref. TASK 32-00-00-481-001) and the landing gear doors (Ref. TASK 32-00-00-481-002).
(3) Make sure the warning notices are in position in the cockpit to tell persons not to operate the landing gear or the landing gear doors.

B. Get Access
(1) Make sure that the access platform is in position below the
applicable zone 571 (671).
(2) Make sure that the applicable MLG assembly has been removed
(Ref. TASK 32-11-11-000-001).

R A. Preparation for Installation
R (1) Clean the component interfaces and the adjacent areas with a
R MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS
R (Material No. 11-026).
R (2) Do an inspection of the component interface and/or the adjacent area.
R (3) Do an inspection of the retaining nut (10) (Ref. NTM 57-29-01 PART
R 9). If the threads of the retaining nut (10) are damaged or have
R corrosion, do one of the steps that follow:
R (a) Record all areas of thread damage and corrosion on the data
R recording sheets specified in (Ref. NTM 57-29-01 PART 9). Send
R the completed data recording sheets to Airbus Customer Support
R for the necessary repair instructions.

R (b) Do the repair by replacement of the forward pintle bearing
R retaining nut, (Ref. ASRM 57-26-13-201).
R (4) Make sure that the parts retained from the removed component are
R clean and in the correct condition.
R (5) Put a thin layer of COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004) on the
R interface and the threads of the bearing housing-halves (8).
R (6) Fill the grease grooves in the bearing (7) and the bearing
R housing-halves (8) with COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004).
R (7) Install the new O-ring seal (9) in the seal groove of the bearing
R housing-halves (8).
R (8) Assemble the bearing housing-halves (8) and the bearing (7) together.
R Make sure that the identification groove in the bearing (7) is
R adjacent to the flange of the bearing-housing assembly (6).
R (9) Use the SOCKET-RING (FOR NUT OF FWD PINTLE BEARING) (98D57004003000)
R to install the bearing-housing assembly (6) in the forward pintle
R fitting.
R (10) TORQUE the bearing-housing assembly (6) to 5.6 m.daN (41.29 lbf.ft).
R (11) Make sure that the joint line of the bearing housing-halves (8) is
