A. Installation of the Access Panels 522FB(622FB), 522JB(622JB), 522KB(622KB), 522LB(622LB), 522NB(622NB), 522QB(622QB), 522SB(622SB), 522UB(622UB)
NOTE : On many of the access panels, the screws that retain the panel
____ have different lengths. Make sure that the correct screws are installed in their correct positions.
(1)
For the panel 522FB(622FB):
(a)
Hold the panel (1) in position. Install the four screws (2) and the screws (3).
(b)
TORQUE tighten the screws (2) and (3) to between 0.45 and 0.5 m.daN (39.82 and 44.24 lbf.in).
(2)
For the panel 522JB(622JB):
(a)
Attach the lanyard with the bolt (6), hold the panel (4) in position and install the screws (5).
(b)
TORQUE tighten the screws (5) to between 0.45 and 0.5 m.daN
(39.82 and 44.24 lbf.in).
(3)
For the panel 522KB(622KB):
(a)
Hold the panel (7) in position. Install the three screws (8) and the screws (9).
(b)
TORQUE tighten the screws (8) and (9) to between 0.45 and 0.5 m.daN (39.82 and 44.24 lbf.in).
(4)
For the panel 522LB(622LB):
(a)
Hold the panel (10) in position. Install the three screws (11) and the screws (12).
(b)
TORQUE tighten the screws (11) and (12) to between 0.45 and 0.5 m.daN (39.82 and 44.24 lbf.in).

For the panel 522NB(622NB):
(a)
Hold the panel (13) in position. Install the five screws (14) and the screws (15).
(b)
TORQUE tighten the screws (14) and (15) to between 0.45 and 0.5 m.daN (39.82 and 44.24 lbf.in).
(6)
For the panel 522QB(622QB):
(a) Hold the panel (16) in position. Install the five screws (17) and the screws (18).
R (b) TORQUE tighten the screws (18) and (17) to between 0.45 and 0.5 m.daN (39.82 and 44.24 lbf.in).
(7)
For the panel 522SB(622SB):
(a)
Hold the panel (19) in position. Install the four screws (20) and the screws (21).
(b)
TORQUE tighten the screws (20) and (21) to between 0.45 and 0.5 m.daN (39.82 and 44.24 lbf.in).
(8)
For the panel 522UB(622UB):
(a) Hold the panel (22) in position. Install the two screws (23) and the screws (24).

B. Sealant WARNING : OBEY THE MANUFACTURER'S INSTRUCTIONS WHEN YOU USE THE SPECIAL

MATERIAL.
THIS MATERIAL IS DANGEROUS.
(1)
Do an inspection of the sealant between the trailing edge of the panel and the forward edge of the wing skin.
(2)
If there is damage to the sealant, do the steps that follow:
(a)
Use a non-metallic scraper and a MISCELLANEOUS (Material No. 19-003) made moist with CLEANING AGENTS (Material No. 11-026) to clean:
-
the trailing edge of the panel
-
the forward edge of the bottom wing skin.
(b)
Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-013A) to the trailing edge of the panel.
(c)
Apply SEALANTS (Material No. 09-005) to the interface between the trailing edge of the panel and the forward edge of the wing skin.
(d)
Let the sealant go hard then carefully remove the applicable panel (Ref. TASK 57-41-37-000-004).
(e)
Apply talcum powder to the sealant mating surfaces and install the panel (refer to Para. 4B.).
(3)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.

C. Dimensional Checks
(Ref. Fig. 404/TASK 57-41-37-991-020)
(1)
Measure the into/out of wind step tolerances of the access panels across the line of flight. These must be as follows:
(a)
For the panel leading edge:
-
maximum 0.3 mm (0.0118 in.) above wing surface (into wind)
-
maximum 0.6 mm (0.0236 in.) below wing surface (out of wind).
(b)
For the panel trailing edge:
-
maximum 0.3 mm (0.0118 in.) below wing surface (into wind)
