If you install a new rudder support strut (9) adjust the length of the strut as follows:

Loosen the nuts (7).

Turn the fork-ends (6) to adjust the length.

Tighten the nuts (7).

Safety the nuts (7) with safety wire MS 20995-C25.

(7) Apply COMMON GREASE (Material No. 04-004) to the bolts (1) and install them.
(8) Install the washers (3) and the nuts (4) and tighten.
(9) Safety the nuts (4) with the lockwashers (5).
(10) Install the cotter pins (2) cotter pin (2).

R (1) Remove the FIXTURE - VERT. STABILIZER/RUDDER (98D27207508000).
R R (2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
R (3) Close the access panel 325DL (Ref. TASK 55-33-13-410-002).
R R (4) Install the access panels 325EL, 325ER, 325DR (Ref. TASK 55-33-13-410-002).
R (5) Remove the warning notice(s).
R (6) Remove the access platform(s).
R R (7) Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
RUDDER - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION

1. General_______
R The rudder is made as one unit. It is attached to hinge arms on the trailing
R edge of the vertical stabilizer. The rudder hinge line lies on the 70 % line
R of the vertical stabilizer and rudder assembly.
R You can deflect the rudder up to 30 degrees either side of neutral. Three
R servo control units control the deflection of the rudder.
R The rudder main structure is made of laminations of Carbon Fiber Reinforced
R Plastic (CFRP).

R A. Rudder Structure
R (1) The main structure of the rudder has a front spar, two side shells
R and an upper and a lower rib. Seven rudder attachment fittings and
R three actuator fittings are attached to it. A bearing at the rudder
R attachment fitting No. 6 holds the vertical load of the rudder. You
R can remove the bearing.
R (2) The rudder has a tip which is made of light alloy. Countersunk screws
R attach it to the rudder main structure.
R (3) A fillet fairing is installed to the lower end of the rudder main
R structure. It closes the gap below the rudder main structure when the
R rudder is in neutral position.
R (4) Three hoisting points are installed in each side shell. Each hoisting
R point has a threaded sleeve which is bonded into the side shell and a
R hoisting lug. When they are not in use, the hoisting points make a
R smooth surface with the outer contour of the side shells. When you
R use the hoisting points you must remove the hoisting lugs and install
R them in an opposite position. Then the eye ends come out of the side
R shells contour.
R (5) Four static dischargers are installed to the upper part of the
R rudder. They permit the discharge of static electricity from the
R aircraft.
