F. Procedure
SUBTASK 27-62-00-820-001
(1) Adjust the speed brake control lever [8]:
(a) Move the speed brake lever [8] to the DOWN position.
(b) Make sure the lever latch is in the DOWN detent on the control stand.
(c) Open this access panel:

(d) Make sure you can easily install the rig pin S/B-1 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 through the
forward drum quadrant.
(e) Adjust the lower control rod [18] if you cannot easily install the rig pin:
1) Remove the lower cover plate [11].
a) Remove the screws [9] and washers [10].
2) Remove the nut [16], washer [15] and bolt [14] to disconnect the top end of the lower
control rod [18] from the idler link [13].
3) Install the rig pin S/B-1 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585.
4) Loosen the checknut [17] and adjust the lower control rod [18] end until you can install
the bolt [14].
5) Install the bolt [14], washer [15] and nut [16] to attach the lower control rod [18] end to
the idler link [13].
6) Tighten the checknut [17] on the rod end.
7) Make sure you can see the rod end through the inspection hole on the lower control rod
[18].
8) Remove the rig pin S/B-1 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585.
(f) Make sure the pointer on the aft face of the speed brake lever [8] aligns with the detents on
the indicator plate:
1) Move the speed brake lever [8] to the DOWN position.
2) Make sure the pointer aligns with the center of the DOWN marker on the indicator plate.
3) Move the speed brake lever [8] to the ARMED position.
4) Make sure the pointer aligns with the center of the ARMED marker on the indicator
plate.
5) Move the speed brake lever [8] to the FLIGHT DETENT position.
6) Make sure the pointer aligns with the center of the FLIGHT DETENT marker on the
indicator plate.
7) Move the speed brake lever [8] to the UP position.
8) Make sure the pointer aligns with the center of the UP marker on the indicator plate.
9) Move the speed brake lever [8] to the DOWN position.
(g) If the pointer does not align with the markers on the indicator plate or, adjust the speed
brake lever [8]:
1) Make sure the lever latch is in the DOWN detent on the control stand.
2) If the pointer on the speed brake [8] lever does not align with the center of the DOWN
detent, adjust the positions of the indicator plate:

a) Loosen the screws [19] that attach the indicator plate to the control stand.
b) Move the indicator plate until the center of the DOWN position aligns with the
pointer on the speed brake lever [8].
c) Tighten the screws [19] on the indicator plate.
3) Do this task: Spoiler Position Sensor Adjustment, TASK 27-61-00-820-808.
4) Do this task: Speed Brake Armed Switch and Speed Brake Handle Position Switch
Adjustment, TASK 27-62-34-400-802.
5) Move the speed brake lever [8] aft until the roller [6] is in the ARMED detent on the cam.
6) Make sure the pointer aligns with the ARMED indicator on the indicator plate.
7) If the pointer does not align, adjust the indicator plate with the speed brake lever [8] in
the DOWN position again.
8) Move the speed brake lever aft until the roller [6] is in the flight detent on the cam.
9) Make sure the pointer aligns with the FLIGHT DETENT indicator on indicator plate.
10) If the pointer does not align, adjust the position of the indicator plate with the speed
brake lever [8] in the DOWN position again.
(h) Install the lower cover plate [11].
1) Install the screws [9] and washers [10].
(i) Close this access panel:
