(1) If you will install a new spoiler control quadrant, remove the spoiler cable quadrant [5] from the
quadrant shaft [36].

(2) Do a check of the shear rivets [32] on the quadrant shaft [36] at the aileron input crank [26]:
(a) Make sure the witness hole in the aileron input crank [26] and the quadrant shaft [36] align
correctly.
NOTE: The marker instructions are located on the quadrant shaft [36].

(3) Connect the spoiler cable quadrant [5] to the quadrant shaft [36]:
(a) Put the quadrant shaft [36] through the opening in the wheel well ceiling [37].
(b) Engage the quadrant shaft [36] with the spoiler cable quadrant [5].

(4) Attach the quadrant shaft [36] to the wheel well ceiling [37]:
(a) Apply a pressure seal to the bearing retainer [38] and the wheel well ceiling [37], to apply
seal, do this task: Non-Removable Faying (Mated) Surface Seal Application,
TASK 51-31-00-390-801.
NOTE: Make sure that the bearing housing is aligned with the correct bolt holes in the
wheel well ceiling.
(b) Install bolts [11] with the heads up through the wheel well ceiling [37] to attach the bearing
retainer [38].
(c) Install the washers [12], washers [13] and nuts [14] on the bolts [11].
(d) Tighten the nuts [14] to 20-25 pound-inches (2.3-2.8 newton-meters).

(5) Install the quadrant shaft support bracket [25] on the wheel well forward bulkhead [20]:
(a) Put the quadrant shaft support bracket [25] in its position.
(b) Install the bolts [21], washers [22], washers [23] and nuts [24] to attach the quadrant shaft
support bracket [25].

(6) Install the aileron spring cartridge [31]:
(a) Do this task: Spoiler Hydraulic Systems A and B Pressurization, TASK 27-61-00-800-801.
(b) Install the rig pins A/S-4 and A/S-3 from the test set rig pin kit, SPL-1585.
(c) If you cannot easily install and remove the rig pin A/S-3. adjust the aileron spring cartridge
[31].
1) Loosen the checknut [40].
2) Use the collar nut [41] to adjust the length of the spring cartridge [31] until you can
easily install and remove rig pin A/S-3.
a) Make sure the internal spring does not deflect.
b) Make sure there is no backlash.
3) Tighten the checknut [40] to 10 - 20 pound-inches (1.1 - 2.3 newton-meters).
4) Install lockwire, G01048 on the checknut [40] and collar nut [41].
(d) Connect the aileron spring cartridge [31] to the aileron input crank [26]:
1) Make sure the drain holes [39] on the aileron spring cartridge [31] are down.
2) Install the bolt [27] with the bolt head up.
