SUBTASK 27-21-31-480-003
(1) Make sure that the rig pin R-3 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 is installed in the captain’s rudder
forward quadrant.

(2) Make sure that the rig pin R-4 from the rig pin kit, SPL-1585 is installed in the first officer’s rudder
forward quadrant.

(3) Install the rudder pedals [12]:
(a) Put the spacers [15] and bearings [18] into the rudder pedals [12].
(b) Put the inboard rudder pedal between the support structure and align the holes.
(c) Put the washer [17] on the support shaft [16].
(d) Install the support shaft [16] from the inboard side through the hole in the support
structures and through the bushing [14] and inboard rudder pedal [12].
(e) Install the bushing [14] on the support shaft [16].
(f) Install the washer [17] and nut [13] on the support shaft [16].
1) Tighten the nut [13] to 200-500 pound-inches (22.6-56.5 newton-meters).

(g) Make sure the support shaft [16] is not free to turn in the support structures.

(4) Do these steps to adjust the rudder pedal position:
(a) Turn the rudder pedal adjustment crank full clockwise for the installed rudder pedals until
the jackshaft is in its full forward position.
(b) Turn the rudder pedal adjustment crank 4 turns counterclockwise.
(c) If you install the captain’s rudder pedals [12], then install the rig pin R-1 from the test set rig
pin kit, SPL-1585 in the captain’s rudder pedals [12].
(d) If you install the first officer’s rudder pedals [12], then install the rig pin R-2 from the test set
rig pin kit, SPL-1585 in the first officer’s rudder pedals [12].

(5) Do these steps to adjust the two rudder pedal tension rods [4]:
(a) Loosen the jamnuts [5] on the two rudder pedal tension rods [4].
(b) Turn the rudder pedal tension rods [4] until you can attach them to the rudder pedals [12].
(c) Make sure you can see the rod end threads through the inspection holes at two ends of the
rudder pedal tension rods [4] after the adjustment.
(d) Make sure that the threads show in at least one-half of the inspection hole.
(e) Tighten the jamnuts [5] on the rudder pedal tension rods [4].

(6) Install the bolts [1], washers [2], nuts [3] and pin [3A] to connect the two rudder pedal tension
rods [4] to the rudder pedals [12].

(7) Install the brackets [20] and the screws [19] on the rudder pedals [12].

(8) Install the bolts [7], bushings [8], washers [9], and nuts [10] to connect the two brake pushrods
[11] to the bellcranks [6].
