WHEN YOU USE THE CENTERING TOOL.


 (1) Put the INSTALLATION TOOL - FRONT WINDOW PANELS (98D56103001000) in position in the windshield housing.
R (2) Adjust the windshield panel (14) to get a clearance J1 of 1 -1 +0.5 R mm (0.0393 -0.0393 +0.0196 in.) related to the lateral post.
 (3) Remove the INSTALLATION TOOL - FRONT WINDOW PANELS (98D56103001000).

 E. Installation of the Retainers
 (Ref. Fig. 402/TASK 56-11-11-991-002)

 (1)
 Install the upper retainer (31) and the front retainer (18).

 (2)
 Apply SPECIAL MATERIALS (Material No. 05-002) below the head of the screws (13), (23), (24), (27) and (32).

 (3)
 Install the washers (25), (29) and (30), the screws (13), (23), (24),


 (27) and (32), the washers (10) and the nuts (11) and lightly tighten them.
 NOTE : The screws (24) and (32) are different lengths.
____ Make sure that you install them at their correct position.

 (4) Install the icing indicator (26), the washer (17) and the nut (16).
 NOTE : Do an electrical bonding of the icing indicator (26) when you____ install it. 
R R  (5) Tighten the nuts (11) and (16) and the screws (13), (23), (24), (27) and (32) with your hand. 
R R  (6) In a staggered pattern, initially TORQUE the nuts (11) and (16) and the screws (13), (23), (24), (27) and (32) to between 0.4 and 0.5 m.daN (2.94 and 3.68 lbf.ft). 
R R  (7) In a staggered pattern, finally TORQUE the nuts (11) and (16) and the screws (13), (23), (24) and (27) and (32) to between 1.6 and 1.8 m.daN (11.79 and 13.27 lbf.ft).
 (8) Remove the shims between the lower retainer (18) and the windshield panel (6) and the aircraft structure.
 (9) Remove the blanking caps from the electrical connectors.
 (10) Connect the sensor (15).
 (11) Connect the electrical connector (43).
 (12) Attach the electrical cable (41) against the draining pipe (44) with the cable ties (42).

 F. Check of the Clearances (Ref. Fig. 407/TASK 56-11-11-991-003)
 (1) Do a check of the clearances on the points given in the figure and make sure that:
 (a) The peripheral clearance J1 between the retainers and the window panel and between the window panel and the frame is:
 1_ 0 mm (0.0000 in.) to 2.0 mm (0.0787 in.) on 20 % of the measured points
 2_ 0 mm (0.0000 in.) to 1.5 mm (0.0590 in.) on the other measured points.

 

R R  (b) The out-of-flush dimension J2 between the window panel and the retainers is:
R R  1_ 0.7 -0.6 +0.6 mm (0.0275 -0.0236 +0.0236 in.) for all the windshields (not applicable to SPS windshields P/N STA320-1-7 and STA320-2-7 and to PPG windshields P/N NP165311-5 and P/N 165311-6). 
R  2_ 0.7 -0.1 +1.4 mm (0.0275 -0.0039 +0.0551 in.) for SPS windshields P/N STA320-1-7 and STA320-2-7 and PPG windshields P/N NP165311-5 and P/N 165311-6. 
R  3_ 1.4 -0.3 +1.8 mm (0.0551 -0.0118 +0.0708 in.) for PILKINGTON windshields P/N 06282 to P/N 06283. 
R R  (c) The out-of-flush dimension J3 between the window panel and the retainers and between the window panel and the frame is:
R R  1_ 0.7 -0.4 +0.4 mm (0.0275 -0.0157 +0.0157 in.) for all the windshields (not applicable to SPS windshields P/N STA320-1-7 and STA320-2-7 and to PPG windshields P/N NP165311-5 and P/N 165311-6). 
R  2_ 0.7 -0.1 +1.2 mm (0.0275 -0.0039 +0.0472 in.) for SPS windshields P/N STA320-1-7 and STA320-2-7 and PPG windshields P/N NP165311-5 and P/N 165311-6. 
R  3_ 1.4 -0.3 +1.6 mm (0.0551 -0.0118 +0.0629 in.) for PILKINGTON windshields P/N 06282 to P/N 06283.
 (d) The peripheral clearance J4 between the retainers and the frame and between the retainers is 1 -0.5 +0.5 mm (0.0393 -0.0196 +0.0196 in.).
 (e) The peripheral clearance J5 between the window panel and the retainers is 7 -1.0 +1.0 mm (0.2755 -0.0393 +0.0393 in.). 
R R  (f) The out-of-flush dimension J6 between the retainers and the frame is 0 -0.4 +0.4 mm (0.0000 -0.0157 +0.0157 in.).
