If necessary, make the surface of the inspection area smooth with the abrasive cloth, grade 280.
(4)
Make sure the inspection area is clean and dry before you continue.
(5)
Do a visual inspection of the surface of the inspection area. Look for damage, and defects in the shape of the surface.
(6)
If you find damage :
(a)
Refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 51-11-00-001) for the classification of the damage.
(b)
If you find corrosion damage:
-
refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 51-22-00-001) for the general corrosion data
-
refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 51-74-00-001) for the repair of the corroded areas.
(c)
If you find other types of damage:
-refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 53-41-11-101) for the necessary data.

A. Special Detailed Inspection Procedure
(1) Do the special detailed inspection of the fuselage skin at the cutout for the bulk cargo door. Do this at the forward and aft upper corners of the cutout (Ref. NTM 534171-Part.6).
NOTE : If the inspection areas are painted , before you do the

inspection you must:
-refer to the procedure steps in the NTM (Ref. NTM 534171-Part.6), 'Preparation for Inspection'
-measure the thickness of the paint at the inspection areas
-make sure that the paint thickness is less than the given limit.
(2) Write a report about the damage you find during the inspection procedure.

(a)
Refer to the ASRM (Ref. ASRM 51-11-00-001) for the classification of the damage.

(1) If necessary, repair the paint coatings in the inspection areas (Ref. TASK 51-75-12-300-003) or (Ref. TASK 51-75-12-300-001).

(1)
Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tool(s) and other items.
(2)
Close the BULK cargo-compartment door (Ref. TASK 52-30-00-860-008).
(3)
Remove the access platform(s).
(4)
Remove the ground support and maintenance equipment, the special and standard tools and all other items.
