_______ SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM SOLVENTS. SOLVENTS ARE HAZARDOUS MATERIALS. SOLVENTS MAY BE FLAMMABLE OR HARMFUL TO THE ENVIRONMENT. REFER TO PRODUCT MATERIAL SAFETY DATA SHEETS (MSDS) AND LOCAL REQUIREMENTS FOR PROPER HANDLING PROCEDURES.
(1) Clean the seating surfaces of the seal to fully remove grease, oil, dirt, or adhesive with the solvent and a cloth. Wipe off the MEK , isopropyl alcohol, or ethyl alcohol before it dries with a clean cloth.

(2) S 224-012Make sure the clearance of the diaphragm seal opening is 0.132 +0.000/-0.010 inch.
(3) S 424-013Push the edge of the diaphragm seal into the diaphragm seal retainer.
(4) S 644-014Apply the detergent to lubricate the rods that will install in the diaphragm seal retainer.
(5) S 414-015Install the nylon rod or metal rods (two at each location) into the diaphragm seal retainer. Do these steps: (a) If the nylon rod is installed, push the nylon rod into the center of the seal retainer and make sure it holds the seal in the socket of the seal retainer. (b) If the metal rods are installed, push the rods into the end of the seal retainer. Make sure the rods are aligned with the ends of the seal retainer.
NOTE:____ The rods are permitted to be recessed in the retainer a maximum of 0.2 inch. A maximum clearance of 0.6 inch is permitted between the ends of the rods at the center of the door.
(6) S 424-021Do the steps again to install the nylon or metal rods in the other diaphragm seal retainer.
(7) S 344-017Apply the sealant to the diaphragm seal as shown (View B-B, Fig. 401). (a) Apply the pressure fillet and injection seals to the diaphragm seal.

(b)
Apply a layer of the silicone sealant on the ends of each diaphragm seal, rod, and seal retainer. Make an overlap of the sealant on the diaphragm seal and make the surface smooth.
