CAUTION:_______BE CAREFUL NOT TO EXTEND THE SEAL MORE THAN NECESSARY. IT CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE SEAL OR INCREASE THE PROBLEM FOR THE INSTALLATION.

 (e)  
Carefully move the spare seal (4) up into the seal groove at the top of the lower bearing.

 (f)  
Examine that the seal is not twisted.

 (g)  
Install the backup rings (11).

 NOTE: Install the white backup ring until the radius of
____ each backup ring aligns the radius of the seal (8) (Fig. 802).
 (h)  Carefully move the seal (3) up into the outer groove of the lower bearing.

 (7)  Install the axle jacks below each end of the truck beam (AMM 07-11-03/201).

 (8)  
Install the lower bearing assembly.

 (a)  
Put the gland nut (9), the retainer and the lower bearing assembly on top of each other.

 (b)  
Measure the height and get the dimension as the dimension A (section A-A, Fig. 802).

 CAUTION: KEEP THIS TOOL IN ITS POSITION WHILE YOU INSTALL PARTS.

 THIS WILL PREVENT DAMAGE TO SEALS.

 (c)  
Lubricate the seal guide tool with applicable hydraulic fluid.

 (d)  
Move the assembled parts up into the outer cylinder (2) as much as possible by hand.

 (e)  
Lubricate the inner surfaces of the gland seating tool.

 (f)  
Set the tool halves 180 degrees apart on the inner cylinder (13).

 (g)  
Apply force to the gland seating tool to put the assembled parts in the outer cylinder (2). 1) Use the jacks installed below the truck to lift the truck

 symmetrical. 2) Lift the truck until the gland nut (9) on the yoke touches the seating tool.
 WARNING:_______DO NOT APPLY UNWANTED FORCE WITH THE JACKS. THIS WILL CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE YOKE, THE GLAND NUT AND THE SEATING TOOL. IT CAN ALSO CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS.
 3) Carefully lift the truck.
 4) Carefully push the assembled parts into the outer cylinder

 (2) until the parts move into the outer cylinder (2).
 a) During the jack, make sure it moves freely.
 b) Make sure not too much force is applied to the seating

 tool through the gland nut (9) and the yoke.
 NOTE: Resistance will increase because of the seal
____ friction while the seal (6) moves into the seal guide tool. The resistance will decrease after the seal is through the guide.
 (h)  
Release the jack pressure lightly.

 (i)  
Remove the gland seating tool and the seal guide tool.

SPEAK WITH THE MANUFACTURER, FIRE, INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE AND SAFETY ORGANIZATIONS, ON THE NECESSARY EQUIPMENT, AND PROCEDURE FOR THIS MATERIAL. FLUSH ALL MATERIAL FROM THE SKIN OR FROM THE EYES IMMEDIATELY WITH WATER. PROVIDE MEDICAL AID TO ANY PERSON WITH AN INJURY IMMEDIATELY.
 (j)  Apply the corrosion inhibition material to the gland nut threads.
 CAUTION: DO NOT TIGHTEN THE GLAND NUT MORE THAN THE TORQUE LIMIT TO
_______ ALIGN THE SLOTS. TOO MUCH TORQUE DOES NOT MAKE A BETTER SEAL AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO PARTS.
 (k)  
Use the wrench adapter to install the gland nut (9) and tighten 2100 to 2400 pound-inches.

 (l)  
Align the nearest lock tab slots.

 (m)  
Measure the dimension B (section A-A, Fig. 802).

 (n)  
Do a check that the dimension B is equal to (the dimension A minus 8.460 | 0.030 inches). 1) If the dimension B is less than the limit, disassemble the
