Use a removal/insertion tool to remove the five remote light sensor wires from the wire terminal strip.

Cut off the plastic band from the wire bundle.
(d)
Remove the screws from the remote light sensor.
(e)
Remove the remote light sensor from the glare shield.

(1) Make sure these circuit breakers are open with DO-NOT-CLOSE tags attached:
(a) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
1) 7F11, EFIS CONT L
2) 7F16, EFIS CONT R

(2) Install the remote light sensor:
(a) Put the remote light sensor on the glare shield.
NOTE: You must point the sensor's lens to the front of the

glare shield.
(b)
Install the sensor's two mounting screws.
(c)
Use the removal/insertion tool to install the five remote light sensor wires into the terminal strip.
(d)
Attach the remote light sensor wires to the adjacent wire bundle with the plastic band.

Do a test of the remote light sensor:
(a)
Set the INBD CRT switch and the LWR CRT switches on the display transfer modules (P1 and P3) to the NORM position.
(b)
Set the EIU SEL switch on the EICAS control panel to the AUTO position.
(c)
Set the EIU switches on the source select modules to the AUTO position.
(d)
Put the black tape on the left and right remote light sensors on the top of the glare shield.
(e)
Put the black tape on the local light sensor on all six IDUs.
NOTE: The local light sensor is found in the lower right
____
corner of the front of the IDUs.
(f)
Adjust the PFD and ND brightness knobs on the lighting control panel to their middle positions.
(g)
Adjust the UPR and LWR EICAS BRT knobs on the EICAS control panel to their middle positions.
(h)
Open and then close these circuit breakers:
1) P7, Overhead Circuit Breaker Panel
a) F8, UPR EICAS
b) F12, ND L
c) F13, PFD L
d) F14, LWR EICAS
e) F17, ND R
f) F18, PFD R
(i)
Stop a minimum of 20 seconds to let the IDUs warm up.
(j)
Remove the black tape from the left remote light sensor.
(k)
Point the flashlight into the left remote light sensor.
1) Make sure that the captain's PFD and ND and the upper and lower EICAS displays become brighter.
(l)
Remove the black tape from the right remote light sensor.
(m)
Point the flashlight into the right remote light sensor.
