 E. Procedure

 (1)  
If you will install used parts, do this task: "Outboard Aftflap Drive Mechanism Inspection" (AMM 27-51-40/601).

 (2)  
Assemble the aft roller support if it is necessary (Section I-I, Fig. 401):

 (a)  
Clean the shaft and fill it with the corrosion preventive compound.

 (b)  
Assemble the aft roller support on the inboard track: 1) Put the shaft (77) in the aft roller support (36). 2) Install the washer (78) and nut (80). 3) Tighten the nut (80) to a torque of 200-500 pound-inches.

 NOTE:  Install a sufficient number of the washers (79) to
____ get the necessary torque.
 4) Install the cotter pin.
 5) Apply the primer to the roller (73) and install it on the
 shaft (77).
 6) Attach the roller with the washer (76) and nut (74).
 7) Tighten the nut to a torque of 150-300 pound-inches
 (17-34 N-m).
 NOTE:  Install a sufficient number of the washers (75) to
____ get the necessary torque.

 8)  Install the cotter pin.
 NOTE: Loosen the nut if it is necessary to align the

 cotter pin hole.

 (c)  Assemble the aft roller support on the outboard track: 1) Put the shaft (84) through the aft roller support (36). 2) Install the washer (88) and the nut (89). 3) Apply the primer to the roller (81) and install it on the
 shaft (84). 4) Install the washer (83) and the nut (82). 5) Tighten the nut (82) to 150-300 pound-inches (17-34 N-m).
 NOTE: Install a sufficient number of the washers (117) to
____ get the necessary torque.
 6)  Install the cotter pin.
 NOTE: Loosen the nut if it is necessary to align the
____
 cotter pin hole.

 7) Tighten the nut (89) to 200-500 pound-inches (23-56 N-m). 8) Install the cotter pin.

 (3)  
If it is necessary, remove the sealant and the corrosion preventive compound from the aft roller support.

Adjust the aft roller support:

 (a)  
Put the aft roller support (36) on the flap track.

 1)  Install the shims (42) and the washers (47) as shown on Detail D.

 (b)  
Hold the support in its position and measure the dimension shown in Section E-E. 1) If the dimension is not in the tolerance, add or remove the

 necessary shims.
 NOTE: The maximum permitted clearance between the shims
____ and the flap track before you tighten the bolts is
 0.002 inch (0.05 mm). The maximum permitted thickness of the shims on the four aft bolts is
 0.06 inch (1.5 mm).
