Record the latitude and the longitude data into the scratch pad line.
NOTE: Do not put a space between the latitude and the
____ longitude. (Example: N1234.5W01234.5)
(i) Push the line select key adjacent to the SET IRS POS> prompt.
NOTE: The VERIFY IRS POSITION or ENTER IRS POSITION message
____ may appear in the scraatch pad. If this happens, check the position on the SET IRS POS line to be sure it is correct. If correct, reenter the same position.
(j) Press the NEXT PAGE key to show the POS REF page.
1) Make sure that you can see the position you just entered on the IRS L, C and R lines.

2) After 10 minutes, make sure that the IRS ALIGN MODE L, C and R messages are removed from the upper EICAS display.
NOTE: The IRS is now aligned and in the navigation mode.

(6) Do these steps to do the high latitude alignment from the left CDU.
NOTE: You can align the IRS from the left CDU or the right CDU.
____ You do not have to align the IRS from both the left CDU and the right CDU. You only have to align the IRS from a single source.
(a)
Set the NAV switch on the captain's source select module (P1-1 Panel) to the FMC-L position.
(b)
Set the FMC switch on the P2-4 panel to the L position.
(c)
Set the switches on the IRS mode select unit (MSU) to the ALIGN position from the OFF position.
NOTE: You can find the MSU on the P5 overhead panel.
____ A high latitude alignment takes 17 minutes.
Note the present time for later use in this procedure.
1) After 10 to 20 seconds, make sure that the IRS ALIGN MODE L, C, and R memo messages come into view on the upper EICAS display.
(d)
Push the MENU key on the left CDU.
1) Make sure that you can see the MENU page.
(e)
Push the line select key adjacent to the <FMC prompt.
1) Make sure that you can see the IDENT page.
(f)
Push the line select key adjacent to the POS INIT> prompt. 1) Make sure that you can see the POS INIT page.
(g)
Press the CLR key to erase the scratch pad.
(h)
Record the latitude and the longitude data into the scratch pad line.
NOTE: Do not put a space between the latitude and the
