 B.  When you open the fuel scavenge shutoff valve it lets the fuel boost pumps for the No. 1 tank move fuel through the fuel scavenge jet pump. The fuel scavenge jet pump causes a low pressure in the fuel scavenge transfer line to the center tank. On airplanes with fuel scavenge flow indicator/check valve, fuel is drained from the center tank through the fuel scavenge flow indicator/check valve into the No. 1 tank. The indicator can be monitored on the ground, to make sure that fuel is moves into the No. 1 tank. On airplanes without a fuel scavenge flow indicator/check valve, fuel is moved from the center tank through the flapper check valve into the No. 1 tank.
 C.  After approximately 20 minutes of operation, the timer in the engine accessory unit closes the fuel scavenge shutoff valve to stop fuel scavenge.

 A.  These trouble shooting procedures were developed with data from system functional tests. The procedures are shown in a tree-type configuration. The operational steps (heavy-line boxes) are connected by arrows to show the path through the tests that gives good (system operable) results (OK condition). When all of the steps in the condition path give good results (OK condition), the fuel scavenge system operates correctly.
 B.  When an operational check step does not indicate an OK response, follow the NOT OK line to the thin-line box that contains the applicable problem. Refer to the procedure shown in the thin line box. Make an analysis of the results of each test while you follow a single line from each box to the subsequent box. Continue this procedure until you find the necessary procedure to correct the problem. Do the necessary procedure to correct the problem. Then do the step where you found the problem again to make sure you corrected the problem.
 C.  All of the trouble shooting procedures for electrical components must be done with good wiring and electrical power available. If the procedure in the trouble shooting block does not correct the problem, do a check of the wiring continuity. Refer to the applicable diagram in the Wiring Diagram Manual (WDM).
 D.  The references in the fault isolation blocks refer to the applicable procedures in the 737 maintenance manual unless the reference includes the letters "WDM" which shows that the necessary data is in the 737 wiring diagram manual.
