Install the Side Strut and the Downlock Assembly

Install the thread protector.

Apply grease to the antirotation bolt, the washers, the nuts, the cotter pin, and the shaft of the swivel.

Install the lower swivel on the shock strut.

Use the crowfoot wrench to tighten the nut to 1800-2400 pound-inches (View E-E).
(a)
Loosen the nut then tighten it to 60-120 pound-inches to give clearance.
(b)
Loosen the nut to the nearest lock position to install the antirotation bolt.

Make sure there is a bolt through the downlock holes.

Install the sling equipment on the side strut and the downlock assembly. Use the instructions supplied with the tool.

Lift the side strut and the downlock assembly into its position on the main landing gear with the hoist.

(7) Apply the corrosion preventive compound to the inner diameter of the pins.
