Remove the two bolts, washers and the clamp which attach the tube to the strut.

Disconnect the forward end of the strut drain tube as follows:

 (a)  
Remove the clamp from the forward end of the strut drain tube.

 (b)  
Disconnect the forward end of the strut drain tube.

 WARNING: IT IS NECESSARY TO WEAR THE GLOVES WHEN YOU PUT THE TUBE ENDS
_______ (TEFLON) INTO THE BOILING WATER OR USE THE HEAT GUN TO APPLY THE HEAT TO THE TUBE. INJURY COULD OCCUR.
 CAUTION: DO NOT APPLY TOO MUCH HEAT ON THE ENDS OF THE TUBE.
_______ TOO MUCH HEAT CAN CAUSE PERMANENT DAMAGE TO THE TUBE.
 (1)  
Put the clamps which attach the tube to the mating fitting loosely on the tube (Fig. 401).

 (2)  
Connect the tube to the fitting at the forward end of the strut drain tube as follows:

 (a)  Put approximately 2.0 inches of the end of the tube in the boiling water; or, apply the heat with the heat gun to the tube end.

 (b)  
Make sure that the end of the tube becomes soft.

 (c)  
Immediately connect the tube to the fitting.

 (d)  
Put the clamp in its position on the forward end of the strut drain tube.

 (e)  
Tighten the clamp.

 (3)  Make sure the distance between the tube and the diagonal brace is at the maximum.
 (a)  Adjust the lay of the tube as necessary.

Attach the strut drain tube to the strut with the clamp, two bolts and two washers.

 (5)  
Connect the tube (near the elbow) to the fitting as follows:

 (a)  
Put approximately 2.0 inches of the end of the tube in the boiling water; or, apply the heat with the heat gun to the tube end.

 (b)  
Make sure that the end of the tube becomes soft.

 (c)  
Immediately connect the end of the tube to the elbow fitting.

 (d)  
Put the clamp in the position at the elbow of the strut drain tube.

 (e)  
Tighten the clamp.

Do the drainage check on the strut midspar (AMM 54-11-00/601).

 (7)  
Do the drainage check on the heat shield assembly (AMM 54-11-00/601).

 (8)  
Install the small access plate near the midspar.

 (9)  
Install the aft strut fairing access panel.

 (10)
 Supply the electrical power, if it is necessary (AMM 24-22-00/201).
