 (m)  Install the adapter (12) to the outlet port for the IDG oil.
 1) Tighten the adapter (12) to 855-945 pound-inches
 (96.6-106.8 newton-meters).
 (n)  Lubricate the packings (2) with petrolatum.
 (o)  Install the packings (2) to the adapters (3).
 (p)  Lubricate the threads of the adapters (3) with engine oil.
 (q)  Install the adapters (3) to the fuel inlet ports.
 1) Tighten the adapters (3) to 650 - 750 pound-inches
 (73.4 - 84.7 newton-meters).
 (r)  Lubricate the packing (35) with engine oil.
 (s)  Install the packing (35) to the adapter (34).
 (t)  Lubricate the threads of the adapter (34) with engine oil.
 (u)  Install the adapter (34) to the fuel inlet return port.
 NOTE: Install the adapter with the longer threaded end out____
 from the fuel/oil cooler.
 1) Tighten the adapter (34) to 110-120 pound-inches
 (12.4-13.6 newton-meters).
 (v)  Install the new packing (17) and adapter (22) to the front
 housing of the fuel/oil cooler.
 1) Torque the adapter to 40 - 50 pound-inches (4.519 - 5.649
 newton-meters).

Install the oil drain elbow (30), do not lubricate the threads, to the adapter (22). 1) While you hold the adapter (22), torque the elbow (30) to

 200 - 225 pound-inches (22.597 - 25.433 newton-meters).

 (x)  
Install the new packing (4) and retainer (10) to the rear oil drain elbow (7).

 (y)  
Install the rear oil drain elbow (7) to the fuel/oil cooler (1) with the locknut (6). 1) Tighten the locknut (6) with your hand.

 (z)  
Install fuel/oil cooler drain connector for the drain tube (8) (Fig./404). 1) ENGINES WITH THE PREFERRED CONFIGURATION (FIG. 405);

 Do the steps that follow:
 a) Install the new packing (17) to the adapter (22).
 b) Install the adapter (22) to the fuel/oil cooler (1).
 c) Tighten the adapter (22).

 2)  ENGINES WITH THE OPTIONAL CONFIGURATION; Do the steps that follow: a) Install the new packing (4) and retainer (5) to the oil
 drain elbow (7). b) Install the oil drain elbow (7) to the fuel/oil cooler
 (1) with the locknut (5). c) Tighten the locknut (5) with your hand.

 (3)  If it is necessary to replace the bypass valve (25), and you do not have the detail parts, do the steps that follow (Fig. 405):
 (a)  
Remove the protection caps.

 (b)  
Lubricate the packings (49) with engine oil.

 (c)  
Install the packings (49) to the bypass valve solenoid (AMM 79-21-03/401).

 (d)  
Lubricate the threads of the bolts (47) with engine oil.

 (e)  
Attach the bypass valve solenoid (48) to the bypass valve (25) with the bolts (47) and washers (46). 1) Tighten the bolts (47) to 36-40 pound-inches

 (4.1-4.5 newton-meters). 2) Install the lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule to the bolts (47).

 (f)  
Lubricate the packing (17) with engine oil.

 (g)  
Install the packing (17) to the adapter (18).

 (h)  
Lubricate the threads of the adapter (18) with engine oil.

 (i)  
Install the adapter (18) to the oil return port.

 1)  Tighten the adapter (18) to 110-120 pound-inches (12.4-13.6 newton-meters).

 (j)  
Lubricate the packing (19) with engine oil.
