Prepare to Install the Control Valve

(1) For the left control valve (4), if it is necessary to install a new control valve (4), do the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove the protection caps from the ports of the control valve (4).
(b)
Lubricate the threads of the plug (13) with engine oil.
(c)
Install the plug (13) with a new gasket (10) into the lower outboard port of the control valve (4). 1) Tighten the plug (13) to 110-120 pound-inches (12.4-13.6
newton-meters). 2) Safety the plug (13) with lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule.
(d)
Lubricate the threads of the bolts (1) with engine oil.
(e)
Install the vented cover (2) and the bracket (14) with the bolts (1).
NOTE: The vent holes must be on the side of the flange of the

control valve.
(f)
Tighten the bolts (1) to 85-95 pound-inches (9.6-10.7 newton-meters).
(g)
Safety the bolts (1) which have lockwire holes with lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule.

(h)
Install the plain cover (9) with the bolts (1). 1) Tighten the bolts (1) to 85-95 pound-inches (9.6-10.7 newton-meters).
2) Safety the bolts (1) which have lockwire holes with lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule.
(i)
Lubricate the threads of the adapter (11) with engine oil.
(j)
Install the adapter (11) with a new gasket (10) to the remaining port on the control valve (4). 1) Tighten the adapter (11) to 110-120 pound-inches (12.4-13.6
newton-meters).
(k)
ENGINES POST-PW-SB 75-62R2 OR PRE-PW-SB 75-91; Install the cap assembly (12) with the steps that follow: 1) Lubricate the threads of the cap assembly (12) with engine
oil. 2) Install the cap assembly (12) on the adapter (11). a) Hold the adapter and tighten the cap assembly (12) to 270-300 pound-inches (30.5-33.9 newton-meters). b) Safety the cap assembly (12) with lockwire or safety cable and safety cable ferrule.

For the right control valve (4), if it is necessary to install a new control valve (4), do the steps that follow:
(a)
Remove the protection caps from the ports of the control valve (4).
(b)
Lubricate the threads of the plug (13) with engine oil.
(c)
Install the plug (13) with a new gasket (10) into the top outboard port of the control valve (4). 1) Tighten the plug (13) to 110-120 pound-inches (12.4-13.6

(d)
Lubricate the threads of the bolts (1) with engine oil.
(e)
Install the vented cover (2) with the bolts (1).
