-set the ARM switch to the on position

the legends RAT FAULT and RAT OUT are shown in amber.

the RAT retracts to its stowageposition.

the red warning light comes on while the RAT retracts, and goes off when the RAT is in the fully retracted position
On the HYD page of the lower ECAM DU:

the RAT triangle symbol changes to amber while the RAT retracts, and then to white when the RAT is fully retracted.
