Adjust the length of the control cables and wires by means of the eyebolts located on the levers, then secure them in position. After carrying out tasks that requires dismantling, when reinstalling the parts check their proper assembly and secure fastening.
3.7. Safety belts (fig. 26)
          Each crew station (seat) is fitted with adjustable seat belts, attached in three points.
3.7.1. Maintenance of safety belts
Level of certification needed: Owner
When inspecting the safety belts, check their cleanliness, check for wears on the textile portions, check the integrity of the elements used for fastening the belts to the airframe, check their adequate fastening and buckling up.
Whenever identifying the above-mentioned non-conformances, replace them, and, if the straps are dirty, clean them.
CAUTION:
1.
Do not wash the belts with petroleum, gasoline or organic solvents.

2.
 Do not repair the damaged belts. Replace them.

3.8.1. Flight controls
3.8.1. Description of flight controls
FESTIVAL R40 S is fitted with dual flight controls. Excepted are the flap and elevator trim tab controls, which, due to the central position of the actuating elements, can be operated by both pilots.
1.
 The aileron control (see fig. 21) consists of two control sticks synchronized through a rod inside the stick axle, a system of balance levers and control rods for conveying the motion from sticks to the torque tube located inside the wing. The motion from torque tube to aileron is conveyed by means of the lever attached to the tube and the outer rod that actuates the aileron. Inside the wing, the torque tube is attached in two Teflon bearings, similar to the control stick axle bearings in the cockpit.

The control sticks, control rods and torque tube are made of Al tube, while the control stick axle is made of 4130 steel tube. The control rods are of adjustable length, being fitted at the ends with eyebolts and lock nuts for fastening them after adjustment.

 The elevator control (see fig. 11; 21) consists of synchronized control stick system, control stick axle, control cables and related guides, balance lever located on the rear side of the fuselage, under the vertical tail, and adjustable control rods, conveying the motion from balance lever to elevator.

The length of cables can be adjusted by means of mechanical tenders intended to ensure tensioning, at a tensile force of 35- 40 Kgf, and a temperature of 25o±5oC.

 The rudder control (see fig. 11) comprises a dual rudder bar, control cables and related guides. Synchronization of rudder pedal movements is achieved by means of the rudder control cables. The rudder pedals are welded structures of 4130 steel, and the guides are made of Teflon. To keep the cables stretched, the side rudder pedals are linked to the fuselage structure by means of two springs. The cable length can be adjusted by means of the mechanical tenders specially fitted for this purpose.
