If you installed a new cable, operate the system for some test cycles with the cables tightened to two times the usual operation tension. Refer to applicable chapter for tension specifications.Make the last rigging adjustments. Refer to the applicable chapter for rigging load and test cycle tables.Make sure the air seals are correctly adjusted to prevent deflection of the cable and to make sure the cable moves freely (AMM 20-10-04/401).The minimum clearance from the adjacent structure shall be as follows.
 NOTE: The clearances that follow are general guidelines only.
____ Refer to the applicable chapter to find any special conditions for a specific system.
 1)  Between different cable systems - 0.50 inch
 NOTE: A clearance of 2.00 inches is recommended.

 2)  Between structure, wiring, tubing and fixed equipment: At a fairlead - 0.50 inch At a rubstrip - 0.10 inch
 NOTE: A clearance of 1.50 inches is recommended below the

 cable, and 1.00 inch is recommended in the other directions.

 NOTE:____ A clearance of 4.00 inches is recommended.
 (j) (k) (l) (m) (n)  Install the turnbuckle locking clips on all the adjusted turnbuckles (Ref 20-10-05).Install the cable stop if applicable (Ref 20-10-08).Operate the controls through full travel.Make sure the controls and control cables move freely.Make sure too much force is not necessary to move the controls.

 AIR SEAL OF THE CONTROL CABLE - REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

 1.  General_______
 A.  This procedure contains two tasks. The first task is the removal of the air seal of the control cable. The second task is the installation of the air seal of the control cable.
 TASK 20-10-04-004-001
 2.  Remove the Air Seal of the Control Cable (Fig. 401)________________________________________
 A.  Procedure

 (1)  
Remove the seal retaining bolts.

Remove the ball (2 pieces) from the seal cover.

 (3)  
If it is necessary to replace the seal plate or the seal cover, disconnect the turnbuckle adjacent to the pressure bulkhead.

Remove the seal cover and the seal plate from the bulkhead.

 3.  Install the Air Seal of the Control Cable (Fig. 401)___________________________________
 A.  Consumable Materials
 (1)  D00015 Grease - Airplane ball and roller
 bearings, cables, corrosion preventive, large
 temperature range BMS 3-24

 B.  Procedure

If the seal plate or the seal cover are removed, replace them on the control cable and adjust the control cable. Refer to the system adjustment instructions.

 (2)  
Apply grease on the cable for its full length of travel in the seal.

 NOTE: Do not fill the seal with grease.

 NOTE:____Do not apply grease to CRES cables. CRES cables should not be lubricated.

 (3)  Install the gasket on the pressure bulkhead.
