 NOTE: The adhesive must go through the tape and hold
____ it temporarily to the installation tool.
 c)  While the adhesive is still wet, place the tool with the tape over the distribution duct joint so that the tape is approximately centered over the joint.
 NOTE: The tape must make a 1.5 inch overlap
____ (minimum) on each side of the duct joint. A maximum of 4 layers of the old tape can be on the duct at one time. If there are more than four layers of the old tape on the duct, replace that section of the duct.
 d)  Press down on the bottom surface of the tool so that the replacement tape evenly touches the ends of the distribution ducts to be joined.
 e)  Hold one end of the tape and slide the tool out from above the distribution duct in the direction of the other end of the tape.

 (e) (f)  f) Make sure that the ends of the tape make an overlap of 1 to 2 inches on each other except where a nozzle opening occurs.Make sure the tape is free of wrinkles and air bubbles.Apply pressure to the tape and let the adhesive dry for a minimum of 4 hours at a temperature of 65° to 100°F (18.3° to 37.8°C).
 NOTE:____ Do not supply air to the duct until the adhesive dries fully.
 (4)  S 434-014Install the seal, the baffle and the conditioned air outlet.
 (5)  S 434-015Install the screws which hold the air outlet adapter to the duct.
 (6)  S 414-016Install the ceiling panels which you removed to get access to the duct.

 B.  This procedure gives instructions to do permanent and temporary repair on a disbonded overhead distribution duct.

 (1)  
Remove the applicable ceiling panels.

 S 348-012

 (2)  
Remove the disbonded fiberglass tape from the joint if the joint is completely disbonded.

 NOTE: For small delaminations in the joint, install the tape
____ and adhesive for the repair on the tape already installed.

 WARNING:_______DO NOT GET SOLVENT IN YOUR MOUTH OR EYES, OR ON YOUR SKIN. DO NOT BREATHE THE FUMES FROM THE SOLVENT. PUT ON PROTECTIVE SPLASH GOGGLES AND GLOVES WHEN YOU USE THE SOLVENT. KEEP THE SOLVENT AWAY FROM SPARKS, FLAME, AND HEAT. SOLVENTS ARE POISONOUS AND FLAMMABLE AND CAN CAUSE INJURY OR DAMAGE.
 (3)  Use the solvent to remove the contamination from the surfaces of the ducts where the repair will be installed.
