 No symbology is displayed for an AT ALT CSTR (i.e. it is preceded by one or more blanks). When the ALT CSTR is a WINDOW, WINDOW is displayed in small, magenta font in columns 19-24. WINDOW constraints are only enterable via the data base. WINDOW constraint values may be viewed via the VERT REV page. When predictions are available, the display is updated. If a constraint (or a constant Mach) is defined at the waypoint, a large font star, "*", is displayed in the column preceding the appropriate predicted value. The star is displayed in magenta if the constraint (or a constant Mach) is satisfied and amber if not. If the waypoint is the upper point of a "Too Steep Path", an amber star is always displayed prior to the corresponding altitude until the situation is corrected. If a waypoint becomes the FROM waypoint while a constraint is still in large magenta font (predictions not completed), the actual altitude recorded at the sequence is shown in large, active color font without any star "*". The constraint value or a constant Mach (pilot-entered value or part of a terminal area procedure) is always displayed on the VERT REV page, regardless of the state of predictions. On the VERT REV page, a constraint (or a constant Mach) entered by pilot (either on F-PLN A or VERT REV page) is displayed in magenta large font. A data base constraint is displayed in magenta small font. Note that only SPD and ALT CSTRs may be defined by the data base via a terminal area procedure. A TIME CSTR can only be manually entered through the RTA page. ALT, SPD and TIME CSTRs may be manually entered. However, TIME CSTRs may only be entered on the VERT REV page whereas SPD and/or ALT CSTRs may be entered either on the VERT REV page or directly on the F-PLN A page. The following discusses SPD and/or ALT entry on the F-PLN A page. The constraint is entered into the scratchpad. Then, by pressing right LS key next to a waypoint, the constraint is entered into that line. The format that must be used is SPD/ALT; however trailing slashes may be omitted. If no value is entered for a constraint, the FM assumes there is no constraint on that parameter. Speed constraints may be entered as CAS (NNN) only. An altitude constraint may be entered as an altitude or as a flight level. Example:
 SPD -Enter only speed constraint.
 /ALT -Enter only altitude constraint.
 SPD/ALT -Enter speed and altitude constraint.

 An "AT or BELOW" altitude is entered as "-XXXXX" or "XXXXX-". An "AT or ABOVE" altitude is entered as "+XXXXX" or "XXXXX+".


 A "*CLB or DES*" amber prompt may be displayed in line 6L-6R. This prompt overwrites the destination data. In this case, the pilot must choose *CLB or DES* by pressing the appropriate LS key before the FM can accept the constraint into the flight plan. Choosing *CLB or DES* inserts the constraint and changes line 6 to re-display destination information. If the F-PLN A page is exited before choosing *CLB or DES*, the prompt is removed from display and the constraint is not entered into the flight plan. Constraints can neither be entered at the FROM waypoint nor at any pseudo waypoint (including (T/C) and (T/D)). A constraint may be directly cleared on the F-PLN A page using the CLR function. All constraints (including TIME) on that line are deleted when the CLR function is used. For a speed limit pseudo waypoint, a star is displayed adjacent to the speed portion only. The star indicates whether the speed limit is predicted to be made or missed when passing through the associated altitude. Predicted values, however, do not overwrite the speed limit values. The rules for determining the color of the star are the same as for as altitude constraint. The following discusses time constraints and Constant Mach Segment. A time constraint can be an "AT", "AT or BEFORE" or "AT or AFTER" constraint. Time constraint may be entered with accuracy of second as "HHMMSS". Nevertheless, if it is entered as "HHMM", it is rounded as HH:MM:00. Note that a time constraint can only be entered manually by the pilot through the RTA page. An "AT" time constraint is entered as "HHMMSS". An "AT or BEFORE" time constraint is entered as "-HHMMSS" or "HHMMSS-". An "AT or AFTER" time constraint is entered as "+HHMMSS" or "HHMMSS+". Moreover, the crew may define a CRZ segment which will be flown with a constant, crew-defined Mach. The CMS will be defined by:
 -a start waypoint,
 -an end waypoint,
 -a Mach. As for a constraint, a star is displayed adjacent to the CMS only. The rules for determining the colour of the star are the same as for SPD/ALT constraints. However, if a speed constraint/limit exists in a Constant Mach Segment (CMS),the applying speed limitation will be the speed constraint/limit instead of the constant Mach. As a consequence, the star colour will reflect the status of the speed constraint/limit only.
