B.
There are two fuel strainer housing assemblies attached to the rear spar in the center wing tank (Ref LBL/RBL 112.60). The fuel strainer housing contains the fuel strainer, poppet valve and poppet guide.
C.
To get to the fuel strainer housing assemblies you must go through the center wing tank access door and the spanwise beam access doors.
D.
To remove the fuel strainer housing, the nut and washer on the rear spar of the center wing tank (in the wheel well for the wing landing gear) must be removed.
E.
When the fuel strainer housing is disconnected from the scavenge system any fuel that remains in the fuel-feed mainfold can drain out through the scavenge system tubing. Make sure a suitable container is in place to hold any fuel that remains in the fuel-feed mainfold. The amount of fuel that can drain out of the fuel-feed mainfold is approximately 20 gallons (76 liters).
F.
It is important that all of the crossfeed valves are closed when the fuel strainer housing is disconnected. If a crossfeed valve is open, fuel can go into the fuel-feed manifold from a main tank suction-feed inlet. When the fuel strainer housing is disconnected, a fuel spill can occur when fuel from the main tank drains out through the scavenge system tubing.
G.
An external leak check of the fuel strainer housing is done to make sure the fuel stainer housing and O-ring are installed correctly. The CWT is filled with fuel and a leak check is done at the fuel strainer housing. No leaks are permitted.
