On the panel 25VU, make sure that the APU MASTER SW pushbutton switch is off.

Make sure that there is a warning notice in the cockpit to tell persons not to start the APU.
(4)
Make sure that hydraulic systems are depressurized
(Ref. TASK 29-00-00-864-001).
(5)
Make sure that the access platform is in position below the APU compartment.
(6)
Make sure that the APU access doors are open (Ref. TASK 52-41-00-010-001).
(7)
Make sure that the LIGHT control switch 11LJ is set to the on position.

A. Installation of the PMG and Cooling Fan Assembly.
CAUTION : YOU MUST USE TWO WRENCHES AND HOLD THE COMPONENT WHEN YOU
_______ REMOVE/INSTALL THE PIPE COUPLINGS AND/OR UNIONS. THIS PREVENTS DAMAGE TO THE COMPONENT.
CAUTION : -YOU MUST NOT INCREASE THE TIGHTENING TORQUE MORE THAN THE
_______ MAXIMUM VALUE. -APPLY ALL TIGHTENING TORQUES WITH A TORQUE WRENCH OR A CALIBRATED SCREWDRIVER.
CAUTION : DO NOT TORQUE THE V-CLAMP(S) TO MORE THAN THE SPECIFIED VALUE.

YOU CAN DAMAGE THE FLANGE SURFACES IF YOU DO.
(1)
Preparation for Installation.
(a)
Clean and inspect the fan and APU interfaces for damage.
(b)
Clean and inspect the ducts and clamps for damage, replace as needed.
(c)
Lubricate the new packing (14) and packing (13) with OILS (Material No. 03-002).
(2)
Installation of the PMG and Cooling Fan Assembly (Compartment Cooling Valve Installed - On APU's with the Mod 6 Dot on the Modification Plate intact).
(a)
Install the new packing (14) on the cooling fan (12). Install the new packing (13) on the fan buffer-air transfer-tube.
(b)
Position the clamp (15) on the gear-box flange (16).
(c)
Align the locating pin (18) to the key-hole (17) and install the fan (12) with the clamp (15).
(d)
TORQUE the clamp (15) to 40 lbf.in (0.45 m.daN).
(e)
Lightly tap the clamp (15) with a soft hammer to make sure that the clamp is correctly installed.
(f)
RE-TORQUE the clamp (15) to 40 lbf.in (0.45 m.daN).
(g)
Position clamp (7) and attach duct (6) to the fan (12).
(h)
TORQUE clamp (7) to between 15 and 21 lbf.in (0.16 and 0.23 m.daN).
(i)
Position clamp (4) on duct (5) and locate cooling valve (3) into the duct (5).
(j)
Install the cooling valve (3) on the fan (12) with the bolts (9).
(k)
Attach the tube (11) to the cooling fan union.
(l)
TORQUE the bolts (9) to 40 lbf.in (0.45 m.daN).
(m)
TORQUE the clamp (4) to between 10 and 16 lbf.in (0.11 and 0.18 m.daN).
(n)
TORQUE the tube (11) to between 135 and 150 lbf.in (1.52 and 1.69 m.daN).
(o)
Install the duct (1) with the clamps (2) and (10).
(p)
TORQUE the clamps (2) and (10) to 40 lbf.in (0.45 m.daN).
(q)
Make sure that the electrical connectors are clean and in the correct condition.
(r)
Install the electrical connector (8).
(3)
Installation of the PMG and Cooling Fan Assembly (Compartment Cooling Valve not Installed - On APU's with the Mod 6 Dot scored out on the Modification Plate).
(a)
Install the new packing (14) on the cooling fan (12). Install the new packing (13) on the fan buffer-air transfer-tube.
(b)
Position the clamp (15) on the gear-box flange (16).
(c)
Align the locating pin (18) to the key-hole (17) and install the fan (12) with the clamp (15).
(d)
TORQUE the clamp (15) to 40 lbf.in (0.45 m.daN).
(e)
Lightly tap the clamp (15) with a soft hammer to make sure that the clamp is correctly installed.
(f)
RE-TORQUE the clamp (15) to 40 lbf.in (0.45 m.daN).
