OXYGEN - GENERAL - DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION____________________________________________
1. General_______ The aircraft has three separate oxygen systems. These are a flight-crew oxygen system, a passenger oxygen system and a portable oxygen system. Each system has its own controls and indicators.
2. System Description__________________
R R R A. Flight-Crew Oxygen System (Ref. 35-10-00) The system supplies oxygen to the flight-crew, if there is a sudden decrease in cabin pressurization. It also supplies oxygen, if there is smoke or dangerous gases in the cockpit. Each crew station has a quick-donning mask with a demand regulator installed. The oxygen is supplied from a high-pressure oxygen cylinder to the masks (through a pressure regulator/transmitter assembly and a distribution circuit).

R R R R R R B. Passenger Oxygen System (Ref. 35-20-00) The emergency oxygen for the passengers and the cabin attendants is supplied from emergency oxygen containers. The emergency oxygen containers are installed: - Above the passenger seats - In the lavatories - At the cabin attendant stations - In the galley working areas. Each container has a chemical oxygen generator and two or more continuous-flow oxygen masks, each with a flexible supply hose.

R R R R R R R R R B. Passenger Emergency-Oxygen System (Ref. 35-20-00) The passenger emergency-oxygen system supplies oxygen to the passengers and cabin attendants in case of emergency. Oxygen cylinders supply the passenger emergency-oxygen system. The cylinders are installed behind the sidewall panels of the AFT cargo compartment, on the RH side. The passenger oxygen system has these subsystems: - Oxygen storage - Oxygen distribution - Ooxygen control and indicating.

C. Portable Oxygen System (Ref. 35-30-00)
The portable oxygen equipment is installed in the cabin and in the
cockpit. It is used to supply oxygen to the crew and passengers in an
emergency and for first aid treatment.
The portable oxygen equipment for the flight crew has a smoke mask and a
high-pressure oxygen cylinder . Communication is continued between the
crew members with a separate communication cable. The communication cable
is connected between the smoke mask and the communication system of the
R flight-crew fixed oxygen system.
The portable oxygen equipment for the cabin attendants has high-pressure
oxygen cylinders and continuous-flow oxygen masks. A Protective Breathing
R Equipment (PBE) is also available for the cabin attendants, if the cabin
R has smoke or dangerous gases in it.

A. Special precautions when working on gaseous oxygen system.
(1)
Make sure that the manual shut-off valves on the oxygen system are closed before you loosen a connection in the oxygen system.
(2)
The aircraft must be grounded before you fill the oxygen system.
(3)
Make sure that no person connects and/or disconnects the ground power connector when you do work on the gaseous oxygen system.
(4)
Prevent all other maintenance procedures nearer than 5m (13.5ft) to the work area.
