SECTION 5.1 GENERAL
INTRODUCTION
THE FOLLOWING PERFORMANCE DATA IS APPLICABLE TO AIRPLANES SN 1000 THRU
1213 WITHOUT ASC 190.
This Section contains performance data and text divided into Subsections, 5.1 through 5.12,
which deal with specific elements of PERFORMANCE and LIMITATIONS. Each Subsection
contains descriptive text for applicable procedures, charts, and example problems illustrating
chart use.
This Airplane Flight Manual observes the 10 minute limitation on takeoff and Go-Around thrust
in the event of an engine failure. The airplane Performance Computer continues to observe the
previous 5 minute limitation. Thus, relative to performance obtained from the Performance
Computer, improved performance may be obtained from SECTION 5.3 CLIMB LIMITED
PERFORMANCE, SECTION 5.6 OBSTACLE CLEARANCE LIMITED PERFORMANCE,
and APPENDIX A REDUCED THRUST (FLEX) TAKEOFF for some conditions previously
impacted by the 5 minute limitation.

BASIS FOR DATA
The performance in this section is based on the following:
1. Approved engine thrust ratings including allowances for installation, airbleed, and
accessory items. Either engine is considered to be the critical engine for engine failure.
2. Takeoff Thrust is available for a maximum time of 10 minutes and is used through the
takeoff, second segment climb, and acceleration to VSE at 1500 feet AGL. Takeoff thrust
will be realized provided EPR at 60 KCAS is equal to that shown on RATED EPR
SETTINGS FOR TAKEOFF THRUST tables in Section 5.12.
3. Engine thrust setting of Go-Around Thrust for approach climb and landing climb. Go-
Around thrust will be realized provided EPR is equal to that shown on RATED EPR
SETTINGS FOR GO-AROUND THRUST tables in Section 5.12.
4. Engine thrust setting of Maximum Continuous Thrust for final segment and enroute
climb. Maximum continuous thrust will be realized provided RATED EPR equals that
shown on the RATED EPR SETTINGS FOR MAXIMUM CONTINUOUS THRUST
Tables in Section 5.12.
5. Full temperature accountability within the operational limits, except for landing distance,
which is based on standard day.
6. Dry, hard-surfaced runway.
7. Wind corrections are calculated as required by FAR 25. All charts should be entered with
tower reported winds.
8. The effect of humidity on engine power is negligible.
9. Flaps 10° or 20° for takeoff.
10. PFD displayed airspeed is calibrated airspeed, since in-flight position error corrections
are made within the DADC and in-ground position error is negligible. Standby
instruments however, display indicated airspeed that must be corrected to get calibrated
airspeed.
11. Minimum brake operating pressure of 3000 psi (20,700 kPa).
12. Recommended tire pressures. See GIV Operating Manual, Chapter 9.
DEFINITIONS
The following definitions are as follows:
AIRSPEEDS
VI, INDICATED AIRSPEED, IAS - airspeed indicator reading, as installed in the airplane,
uncorrected for static source position error. (This applies to standby airspeed indicator
only).
VC, CALIBRATED AIRSPEED, CAS - indicated airspeed corrected for static source
position error. (The PFD displays VC directly.)
MI, INDICATED MACH NUMBER - Machmeter reading, as installed in the airplane,
uncorrected for static source position error. (This applies to standby machmeter only).
