Apply thin coat of compound, ZC-027L, to the bolt threads, shank, and under the bolt head.

Install the bolts into the barrel nuts until the nut threads are fully engaged.

Make sure you put the correct bolts into their hole. See Figure 401d, Detail C.

Use an indicator torque wrench to measure the drag torque of resistance. NOTE: Turn the bolts in a counterclockwise direction.

(b)  
Make sure that the following minimum torques occur: 1). 14.0 lb-in (1.6 Nm) for 0.4375 inch diameter fasteners. 2). 18.0 lb-in (2.0 Nm) for 0.5000 inch diameter fasteners.

(c)  
If a barrel nut does not provide the needed resistance, replace it.

(3)  
Make sure that a thin coat of compound, ZC-027L is on the bolts before they      are installed.

Before installation of the winglet, apply compound ZC-027L to the entire rectangular area between points “A”, “B”, “C”, & “D”. See Figure 401c, view B-B. Mount free end of adaptor jumpers (BACJ40AB21-*) on existing winglet electrical stud using existing hardware attach per BAC5117.

Hold the winglet in position with the sling, HSE737-0010 and install the bolts.

(6)  
Install the bolts and washers, locations 1 through 18, following the sequence as shown in figure 401c, view B-B. First install bolts and washers 3,6,7,8. Next install bolts and washers 13,14,15,16. Ensure winglet inspar rib is flush with WBL560 closure. Next install bolts and washers 1,2,4,5. Install remaining bolts.

NOTE: Do not tighten the bolts fully.

Tighten the bolts to the applicable final torque: 

NOTE: Apply the final torque to first eight bolts in numbered order. Then apply final torque to remaining ten bolts in numbered order as shown in Figure 401c, View B-B.

For .4375 inch diameter fasteners: 400 to 450 lb-in (45.2 to 50.9 Nm).

(b)  
For .5000 inch diameter fasteners: 600 to 700 lb-in (67.8 to 79.1 Nm).

Make sure that the misfairs are within tolerance. See Figure 401a, 401e-h (sec D-D, E-E, F-F, G-G.)

Remove the sling, HSE737-0010 or HSE757-0010 from the winglet. Re-install the BACB30VF bolts using MIL-C-11796, class 3 corrosion preventive compound applied to all areas of the hole and immediately install the bolts.

Apply sealant, BMS 5-95, at the joint between the winglet and the adaptor plug on the upper, exterior surface between points “A” and “B”, Figure 401c, view B-
