AUXILIARY POWER UNIT - SERVICING (OIL CHANGE)

1. General_______
A. This procedure has these tasks to change the APU oil:
(1)
Drain the APU oil
(2)
Flush the APU oil tank
(3)
Fill the APU oil tank.
B. You do the drain and fill tasks for each oil change. You do the flush task if the new oil is a different type or brand name than the oil in the APU oil tank. Do not change the oil to Aeroshell/Royco Turbine Oil 560 or Mobil Jet Oil 254 unless you have one of these conditions:
(1)
A new APU is installed with no oil in the APU oil tank
(2)
A serviceable APU is installed with no oil in the APU oil tank since its last overhaul.
C. The oil drain port drains the oil from the APU oil tank. The location of oil drain port is at the bottom of the APU oil tank. The oil drain port has an oil pump screen, two packings, an adapter assembly and a slotted cover. The adapter assembly and slotted cover increase the rate of oil drainage from the APU oil tank and prevent accidental oil spillage during the oil drainage procedure. The oil filler cap is located on the top right side of the APU oil tank. The APU oil tank is full when the oil level is at the center of the top sight glass.
D. The total capacity of the APU oil tank is 4.81 U.S. gallons (18.2 liters). The oil quantity that can be used is 4.2 U.S. gallons (15.9 liters).
E. Use only these types and brands of oil:
