On the PDC CDU select CRZ LIMIT Page 4-4 and record the EPR LIMIT value shown on that page. This is the Cruise EPR Limit. Return PDC CDU to CRZ page 1-4.

On the AFCS MCP, set both F/D switches to OFF to prevent the A/T Computer from going into TRACK mode during the following test.

For each EPR indicator provide a simulated EPR signal simultaneously and slowly increase both EPR indicator readings to an EPR value which is 0.05 less than the Cruise EPR limit recorded above. Check that both thrust levers remain stationary after the EPR is set.


NOTE:  When the F/D switches are turned OFF, the PDC annunciation will change to DES and the Flight Director System will drop out of ALT HOLD mode.

NOTE: Do not overshoot the Cruise EPR Limit Value while making this adjustment.
The thrust levers must be kept within 8 degrees of each other to prevent
disengagement during the above test.

Slowly increase the simulated EPR signals to an EPR indicator reading which is 0.15 greater than the Cruise EPR Limit recorded above. Check that both thrust levers retard.

Decrease the simulated EPR to 1.0.

On the AFCS MCP, set both F/D switches back to ON.

NOTE:  The PDC annunciation will change to CRZ and the Flight Director System will automatically change back to ALT HOLD mode.

Increase Capt's simulated airspeed to achieve 0.61 Mach on the Mach/Airspeed Indicator.

Select 340 knots on the AFCS control panel.

(18)
Press the C/O button on the AFCS control panel and check that the IAS/Mach dial changes to 0.61.

Select 0.62 Mach on the AFCS control panel and check that the thrust levers advance and the FAST/SLOW indicators indicate SLOW (approximately half scale).

Select 0.60 Mach on the AFCS control panel and check that the thrust levers retard and the FAST/SLOW indicator indicates FAST (approximately half scale). Allow thrust levers to drive to idle stop.

Select 0.61 Mach and check that the thrust levers do not drive.

Set captain's simulated airspeed to 325 knots. On the AFCS control panel, press the C/O button and set the IAS/Mach dial to 325 knots.

Integrated Servo Checks

(a)  
Set the thrust levers to mid-position and then do not touch them again until step (21)(e).

NOTE:  One purpose of this test is to verify that the thrust levers will drive out of the mechanical stops solely by electrical command without any manual assist after they have driven into the stops by electrical command. This checks essential logic circuits and wiring related to the integrated servo and torque switches.

(b)  
On the AFCS control panel, dial the IAS/Mach indicator to 340 knots and allow the thrust levers to advance all the way and drive into the forward mechanical stops.

(c)  
Dial the IAS/Mach indicator to 310 knots. Check that the thrust levers drive aft. Allow them to drive all the way into the aft (idle) mechanical stops.

(d)  
On the AFCS control panel, dial the IAS/Mach indicator to 340 knots. Check that the thrust levers drive forward out of the stops.

(e)  
After the thrust levers have driven forward more than one inch, manually stop them and observe the force required to hold them still. Check that the force required to stop the thrust levers is no more than 2 pounds per lever.

NOTE:  This test checks that the torque switch bypass has released. If the torque switch bypass fails to release, the force would be larger for each lever where it failed to release. The force required to pull one thrust lever back while it is trying to drive forward (or vice versa) is normally approximately 5 pounds.

(f)  
On the AFCS control panel, dial the IAS/Mach indicator to 325 knots. Disengage the autothrottle and reset the disengage lights. Set thrust levers to mid-position.

Simulated altitude (Captain's): 20,000 feet

(b)  
EPR: 1.8

Verify the following initial conditions (same as last test).

(a)  
Angle-of-Airflow sensor: 2 degrees trailing edge up.

(b)  
Simulated airspeed: 325 knots

(c)  
Radio altitude: 2,200 feet

(d)  
Flap position: 0 degrees

(e)  
LANDING GEAR-LIGHTS circuit breaker: open
