 D. Preconditions

These conditions are necessary for this task:

 (a)  
Electrical power is available (AMM 24-22-00/201).

 (b)  
The brake hydraulic accumulator precharge pressure is correct (AMM 12-15-09/301).

 (c)  
The surge accumulators precharge pressure is correct (AMM 12-15-11/301).

 (d)  
The hydraulic systems are serviceable (AMM 29-11-00/201).

 (e)  
The Integrated Display System (IDS) is serviceable (AMM 31-61-00/501).

 E.
Prepare for the Test

 S 495-100
 (1)  Make sure the ground locks are installed in all landing gear (AMM 09-11-00/201).

 WARNING: YOU MUST CAREFULLY DO THE STEPS IN THE TASK BELOW TO INSTALL
_______ THE DOOR LOCKS ON THE LANDING GEAR DOORS. THE DOORS CAN CLOSE QUICKLY IF YOU DO NOT INSTALL THE DOOR LOCKS CORRECTLY. THIS CAN CAUSE INJURY TO PERSONS OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT.
 (2)  
Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Wing Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

 (3)  
Do this task: "Installation of the Door Locks on the Body Landing Gear" (AMM 32-00-30/201).

 (4)  
Make sure that wheel chocks are installed at each wheel.

 (5)  
Release the parking brake.

 (6)  
Make sure the landing gear handle is in the DN position.

 (7)  
Supply electrical power (AMM 24-22-00/201).

Make sure the brake hydraulic accumulator has the correct precharge pressure (AMM 12-15-09/301).

Make sure the surge accumulators, in the wheel well of each wing gear and in the right body gear, have the correct precharge pressure (AMM 12-15-11/301).

 Pressurize hydraulic system No. 4 (AMM 29-11-00/201).

Do the steps that follow to do the normal and alternate brake system operational test:

 (1)  
Do the steps that follow to do a test for brake operation with the normal system:

 (a)  
Make sure the EICAS pressure indication for hydraulic system No. 4 shows 2900-3150 psig.

 (b)  
Make sure the HYD BRAKE PRESS gage on the P1 panel shows 2900-3150 psig.

 (c)  
Push the captain's brake pedals to the stops and hold them.

 1)  With the brake pedals held at the stops, look to make sure there are no leaks at each brake assembly and along the brake lines. No leaks are permitted.
 2)  Monitor the indicator for each brake assembly. a) Make sure each brake operates to compress the heat stack.
 (d)  Release the brake pedals.
 1)  With the brakes released, look to make sure there are no leaks at each brake assembly and along the brake lines. No leaks are permitted.
 2)  Monitor the indicator for each brake assembly. a) Make sure that each brake releases.
 (e)  
Push the first officer's brake pedals forward to the stops and hold them. 1) Monitor the indicator on each brake assembly.
