CHAPTER 1. DEFINITIONS, APPLICABILITY AND AVAILABILITY
1.1 Definitions
When the following terms arc used in the Standards and
Recommended Practices for aeronautical charts, they have the
following meanings:
Aerodrome. A defined area on land or water (including any
buildings, installations and equipment) intended to be used
either wholly or in part for the amval, departure and
surface movement of aircraft.
Aerodrome e1evatio.n. The elevation of the highest point of the
landing area.
Aerodrome operating minima. The limits of usability of an
aerodrome for:
a) take-off, expressed in terms of runway visual range
and/or visibili.ty and, if necessary, cloud conditions;
b) landing in precision approach and landing operations,
expressed in terms of visibility and/or runway visual
range and dt:cision altitudeheight (DA/H) as appropriate
to the czategory of the operation; and
c) landing in approach and landing operations with vertical
