require an AES to await the successful receipt of both CMLIDUs
before C channel transmission can begin. These

(formerly British Telecom) patent rights and copyrighzs. BT
has agreed to granr royalty-free nun-exclusive licences under
such patent rights and copyrights to all manufacturers qf AES
and GES implementations for civil aeronautical mobile
satellite communications only (which include AMSS atul
AMS(R)S communications, as provided in Chapter 4). These

contained in the docament "Low Level Descriplion", version
number 1.5, dated 3 May 1996. and developed by Digital Voice
Systems Inc, (DVSI), United States.
The 4.8 kbits/s encoding/ctecoding techllology described in
the docunzent is subject to DVSI patent rights and copyrights.
Manufacturers must enter into u licence agreement with DVSI
prior to obtaining a detailed description of the algorithm
before incorporation in equipment operating in the AMSS
